Abstract

This paper examines the practical implementation of the "Set Theory" (Theory of Attitude/Set), formulated by Dmitry
Uznadze, the founder of the Georgian Psychological School, within the methodology of mathematics education. Drawing upon
the author’s 60-year tutoring practice, the article analyzes the impact of non-traditional pedagogical approaches on students'
academic performance and personal development. The study demonstrates how replacing systematic testing with an element of
surprise and integrating interdisciplinary activities (such as poetry) fosters a solid, positive cognitive set within the student's
psyche. The findings are substantiated by empirical case studies in which former low-achieving students attained significant
success in the fundamental sciences.
