Text Editing and Its Teaching Techniques
Main Article Content
Abstract
Text editing is an essential process that enhances the content, structure, and style of a written work, making it easier
to understand and improving the author's writing skills. The main goals of editing are: content clarity, structural coherence,
stylistic accuracy, and grammatical perfection. Editing is carried out in stages – content editing, structural editing, stylistic
editing, and technical correction. The teaching of editing involves both theoretical and practical approaches: introducing
fundamental principles, comparing well-edited and poorly edited texts, simulating editing tasks, collaborative editing, and
using modern digital tools (such as Grammarly and Hemingway App). Students develop analytical and critical thinking skills,
learn to give and receive feedback, and practice working both as authors and editors. The goal of this process is not only to
improve technical skills but also to foster creative and critical thinking, helping students produce clearer, more effective, and
more professional texts.
