Abstract

Internal audit is an independent, objective, assurance and consulting activity aimed at improving the activities of an
institution and the full implementation of its tasks.
Internal audit is a means that provides the head of the institution with independent assurance that the control
mechanisms within the institution achieve the set goals and risk management is implemented effectively. Internal audit
activities include the assessment of a number of activities and processes of the institution in order to ensure the compliance of
the financial management and control system with the goals, rules, standards and principles of sound financial management.
As world practice shows, measures related to continuous professional education will improve the qualifications of
accountants and auditors in Georgia and, importantly, increase the trust of civil society in the profession.
