Roads and bridges of Adjara in 1920s

Abstract

Due to its geostrategic location, a lot of attention was paid to the maintenance of roads in Adjara during the Soviet
period. Since 1921, the Department of Road Construction has been operating in Adjara. In 1923, a 5-year plan was adopted
regarding the construction of roads. Based on military-strategic goals, special attention was paid to the improvement of
Uchamba, Skhalta and Merisi roads.
